description
Designed by Erik Larsen, an American architect specialising in golf course design, the nine-hole course at Porto Belo Golf Resort is part of the All Resort development, closely connected to its residential areas and surrounding landscape.
The main wayfinding challenge was to understand a world with its own codes, rules and dynamics. To create a system that guides players clearly and intuitively, we immersed ourselves in the game: learning its terminology, flows and information needs, while visiting other golf courses to observe the player experience first-hand. From this understanding, we developed a wayfinding strategy that defines information hierarchies, decision points, hole identification and route guidance, considering each stage of the player journey.
At the same time, the system needed to belong to two distinct contexts: the traditions of golf and the contemporary identity already established across the resort. The graphic, typographic, colour and material language creates a connection between these two worlds, while remaining integrated into the landscape and unobtrusive to the game.
The result is a wayfinding system shaped by an understanding of the sport itself: organising the experience, anticipating decisions and guiding players naturally through the course, while reinforcing the identity of Porto Belo Golf Resort.
