With an area of 1,200m², the new lobby of Moinhos de Vento Hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil, is now a space for education, events, and socializing, and it is fully integrated with the campus wayfinding system.
As we return to in-person services, this space offers a new auditorium and classrooms wired for meetings with high-resolution simultaneous transmission. There is also a new library with both physical and virtual collections that are open to the public.
Based on the specific aspects of these environments, the wayfinding concept broadened to adapt the existing signage system to the unique and ambitious new architecture. To do this, the chromatic palette was reduced to white, silver, and gray using metals such as polished stainless steel. The most relevant information is displayed without supports or plaques, and links itself with the surroundings using simple, high-quality materials including wood and glass. Strategic locations bear the Hospital Moinhos de Vento logotype.
